
MARAUDERS ANNOUNCE JOEL GUNTERMAN AS ATHLETIC DIRECTOR
With over 15 years of professional experience in community college athletics, Mr. Gunterman brings a deep commitment to student-athlete success and a passion for sports that runs through every aspect of his career. A proud product of the Antelope Valley, he returns home at Antelope Valley College with a strong vision for growth, community engagement, and competitive excellence.
Mr. Gunterman's journey through community college athletics is comprehensive and hands-on. From his early days as a community college student-athlete to roles as an athletic trainer, coach, athletics event manager, athletics facilities coordinator, and Adjunct Instructor, he has developed a well-rounded perspective on what it takes to build and support successful athletic programs. He has also served as Athletics Director at two other California community colleges, where he led initiatives focused on student development, program expansion, and equity in athletics.
Known for his leadership, collaborative spirit, and deep ties to the local community, Mr. Gunterman is dedicated to building a strong, inclusive, and championship-driven culture at AVC. His return to the Antelope Valley marks a full-circle moment—bringing his professional expertise back to the community that shaped him.
