Down the stretch, the College of the Canyons Baseball team did all it could when it came to taking care of their business in the race for the 2017 Western State Conference East Division Championship. The Cougars went 10-2 in their final 12, including besting Glendale College two out of three games in their final regular season series of the year.

It would all come down to a game between Glendale and Citrus College however, as those two teams finished out a halted game from a month previous to determine the conference champ, with Citrus walking off the Vaqueros to give the Cougars the outright title.

College of the Canyons finished the regular season 27-12 and 17-3 in WSC East play. The conference championship was the 14th overall for the Cougars, but the first for Canyons since the 2009 season. The Cougars were rewarded with the #3 overall seed for the 2017 CCCAA Southern California Playoffs and were set to host #14 Santa Ana College in the regional round of competition. Glendale College meanwhile, was the only non-division champion of the three WSC divisions to earn an at-large bid. The Vaqueros were slotted #12 and will travel to #5 El Camino College.
