Glendale Men 10th; Moorpark and West LA Women 4th at SoCals

The Glendale College Men's Track and Field team along with the Moorpark College and West Los Angeles College Women were the top three teams for the Western State Conference at the recent 2013 Southern California Track and Field Championships. The Vaqueros finished 10th overall, while the Raiders and Wildcats tied for 4th place overall.

Glendale finished 10th out of the 27 competing teams with 21 total points, just one point ahead of conference rival West LA who finished in 11th place with 20 points. On the men's side three WSC individuals won titles. West LA's Alex Amankwah won the 800M run with a time of 1:50.02, LA Valley's Austin Allen won the Pole Vault with, clearing 4.79 meters, and College of the Canyons' Tim White won the Triple Jump with a jump of 15.61 meters.

Moorpark and West LA meanwhile were fourth out of the 27 teams, tying with 59 points each. Glendale didn't too far behind them in 8th place with 42 points. Individual champions included, Glendale's Grace Graham Zamudio who won three events the 1500M (4:40.00), the 5,000M (17:48.42), and the 10,000M (39:15.48) races. Moorpark's Sara Mcdonald took home the 400M crown with a time of 54.89 seconds, Tejera Dial of Bakersfield College won the 800M run with a time of 2:16.90, West LA's Jonika Baker won the 400M Hurdles with a time of 1:01.04, and the West LA 4 x 100 Relay team won with a time of 46.65.
