LA Valley Men and Glendale Women Are Top WSC Teams at State

The Los Angeles Valley College Men's Track and Field team and the Glendale College Women's Track and Field team were the top scoring Western State Conference programs at the recent 2013 California Community College Athletic Association State Championships. LA Valley finished 14th, while Glendale finished 6th.

The Monarchs scored 19 points, just edging West LA College who posted 15 points and finished in 17th place overall. The Wildcats' Alex Amankwah won the 800M Individual Championship with a time of 1:50.64, while College of the Canyons also took home an individual title winning the Triple Jump with a jump of 15.63 meters.

The Glendale women meanwhile scored 41 points, edging 7th place West LA who had 38 points. 30 of Glendale's 41 points came from Grace Graham-Zamudio who won the 1500M (4:36.13), 5000M (16:41.04), and 10,000M (37:22.19) individual championships. Jonika Baker of West LA also won an individual crown, grabbing the victory in the 400M Hurdles with a time of 1:02.60.
