The chase for the conference title would come down to the final night, thanks to the two teams splitting their regular season series. Antelope Valley got the better of the Monarchs early in the season, defeating LA Valley 58-64 in Lancaster back on January 18th. LA Valley would follow that up three weeks later with a 78-45 statement win over the Marauders in Valley Glen to pull back even with Antelope in the standings.
Both schools would close out their regular season schedules at home with LA Valley hosting Victor Valley and Antelope Valley hosting third place Glendale College. Each cruised to victory, with the Monarchs beating the Rams by 69 points, and the Marauders knocking off the Vaqueros by 24.
For LA Valley it's the 11th overall title, and first since their back-to-back titles in 2013 and 2014. For Antelope Valley it's their first as a member of the Western State Conference and their first conference title since they won the Foothill Conference Championship back in 2010.
Both schools will represent the WSC East in the 2017 CCCAA Southern California Regional Championships. Los Angeles Valley College is the #6 seed and will host #11 Riverside City College on Friday February 24th at 7:00 PM. Antelope Valley College meanwhile is the #17 seed and will travel to #16 Long Beach City College on Wednesday February 22nd at 7:00 PM for the right to take on #1 overall seed Mt. San Antonio College on Saturday.
