
LA Valley’s O’Connor Named WSC East Player of the Year; Antelope Valley’s Green is Coach of the Year
After the Los Angeles Valley College and Antelope Valley College Women’s Basketball team’s shared the 2017 Western State Conference East Division Championship, the two schools also shared the top honors for the division. LA Valley’s sophomore wing Diamond O’Connor was named the Player of the Year, while Antelope Valley’s head man Barry Green was named the Coach of the Year.

LA Valley's sophomore wing Diamond O'Connor was named the Player of the Year, while Antelope Valley's head man Barry Green was named the Coach of the Year.
O'Connor started all 28 games for the Monarchs, lead the team in minutes (27.9 mpg), scoring (13.2 ppg), and rebounds (9.4 rpg). At Victor Valley, O'Connor scored a season high 27 points, and ripped down 13 rebounds, while handing out two assists, and recording a pair of steals. O'Connor was a 1st team All-WSC South selection last year as a freshman.
Green earned the award after helping leading his squad to a share of the conference title, the Marauders first since 2010, and their first ever as a member of the Western State Conference. Antelope turned their season around in WSC East play, entering conference competition with a 6-12 mark. The Marauders then reeled off nine wins in their last ten games, earning not only a share of the conference crown, but also a spot in the 2017 CCCAA Playoffs.
