College of the Canyons Clinches WSC South Title

The College of the Canyons Women's Soccer team clinched their third straight Western State Conference South crown on Tuesday evening with a 3-1 win over Citrus College. The win relegated the Owls to second place no matter the outcome of the final regular season contest for each, and gave the Cougars their seventh title overall.

Canyons took the lead over Citrus in the 40th minute when Stacy Atwater connected off a pass from Leilani Konrad. Citrus evened it up in the 48th minute when Rebekah Evans scored off an assist by Kacie Licata. The Coguars surged ahead eight minutes with another Atwater goal, and then iced the contest in the 73rd minute with a score by Konrad.

Both teams will likely enter the post-season to represent the WSC. The post-season announcement by the CCCAA will take place on Tuesday November 19th.
