WXC: Hancock Sweeps Coaching Superlatives, VC's Godina Named Athlete of the Year
After putting together the team's most successful showing in at least three decades, the Allan Hancock College coaching staff has swept the Western State Conference women's cross country superlative awards.
Steven Youngblood was selected as the Coach of the Year in his first season at the helm of the program while Kenna Wolter was tabbed as the Assistant Coach of the Year. The Bulldogs closed out the highly decorated campaign with a 5th place finish at the SoCal Regional Championship before taking 6th at the 3C2A State Championship.
Ventura College's Sophia Godina was the runner-up at both the state and regional championship meets. She was three seconds behind the winning mark at the SoCal race and just 1.29 seconds off in Fresno. Godina was also the individual champion at the WSC Finals back in October. She becomes the first individual to receive the conference superlative for the Pirates since 1994 and the fourth overall for VC.
