Six WSC Teams Qualify for Baseball Post-Season

A total of six Western State Conference schools have qualified for the upcoming 2014 California Community College Athletic Association Baseball Playoffs. Four teams from the WSC North and four teams from the WSC South will represent the conference in the post-season which starts this week.

Leading the pack is WSC North Champion Oxnard College (27-9), who was given the #2 overall seed in the South. Santa Barbara College (23-13), the runner-up in the WSC North was the next team up, coming as the #6 seed. The WSC South Champs, Los Angeles Mission College (23-13) rang in at #7, while Los Angeles Pierce College (19-16-1) and Allan Hancock College (22-13-1) rang in at #12 and #13 respectively. Rounding out the qualifiers was WSC South runner-up College of the Canyons (19-16-1) who were seeded #18.

Canyons will kick the competition off on Tuesday when they travel to #15 East Los Angeles College for a play-in game. Hancock will travel to #4 Palomar College, and Pierce will hit the road to #5 Cerritos College. Santa Barbara will host #11 San Bernardino Valley College, while Mission will host #10 Saddleback College. Oxnard will wait for the results of Tuesday's game and host the highest remaining seed. All of those contests will be best two out of three series set for Friday and Saturday.
