The Western State Conference was once again well represented at the 2014 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft over the past weekend. The WSC had four current players, and eight former players drafted, for a total of 12.

Former Santa Barbara City College Gaucho Zack Zehner was the highest player drafted, going in the 7th round at pick number 204 to the Toronto Blue Jays. Zehner played his 2014 junior season at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, helping lead the Mustangs to one of their best seasons in program history. Zehner was an All-Big West Honorable Mention honoree and was the third leading hitter for the Mustangs.

The highest drafted player straight out of a WSC school was sophomore hurler Luke Eubank out of Oxnard College. Fresh off of leading the Condors to one of their best season's in program history and being named the WSC North Player of the Year, Eubank was selected in the 15th round with the 457th pick by the Cleveland Indians. Eubank lead the entire WSC in wins (10), K's (98), and ERA (0.77). Eubank was a perfect 10-0 on the year during the regular season, with one save, and one complete game. Eubank led the WSC in innings pitched (93.1) and averaged 9.45 K's per game.

College of the Canyons had the most players drafted on the weekend, as they had a total of five players drafted, two current and three former. A 13th player, Michael Noteware formerly of Glendale College, was signed as an undrafted free agent by the New York Yankees.
