After winning the outright Western State Conference North Division Championship, the Ventura College Men's Basketball team took home the top awards for the division. Sophomore forward Vida Faniel was named the North's Player of the Year, while Head Coach Joey Ramirez was named the Coach of the Year.

For the sophomore big man, 14 points and 8.3 rebounds a contest earned him the honors. Faniel shot 52.4% from the field, kept defenses honest with a 40.8% percentage from downtown, and 81.8% shooting from the free-throw line.

Ramirez earned Coach of the Year honors for the second straight year and the third time in just his sixth season. The Pirates went 17-12 overall, and finished in first place in the WSC North for the second straight season.
