The Ventura College Women's Basketball program, winners of the last 26 Western State Conference North Division Championships, claimed their 27th straight late on Wednesday. The Pirates which had clinched at least a share the previous Saturday claimed the outright title with a fourth quarter comeback against a scrappy Oxnard College squad with a 56-50 win over the Condors.

The Pirates went 25-5 on the year and finished a perfect 10-0 in WSC North play. Ventura won their 10 conference games by an average of 28.5 points per game. The Pirates were also one of three WSC North schools to qualify for the 2017 CCCAA Southern California Playoffs, as they were seeded #3 in the post-season.

Second place Moorpark College was slated #13 and will be headed to #4 Cypress College on Saturday evening, while third place Allan Hancock College earned the #18 seed and will go to #15 Santa Ana College on Wednesday night. It's the Bulldog's first bid since 1995.
