Women's Soccer: Allan Hancock Tabbed as WSC North Champion

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College women's soccer program secured the program's first outright Western State Conference (North) title at home on Friday afternoon. They closed the conference slate with an unbeaten record of 8-1-3 against league foes and posted an overall mark of 14-3-3 at the end of the regular season. This marks the second conference title for the Bulldogs in as many years after also earning a share of the crown last fall.

A traditional point system is used to determine the conference champion each season. Per the WSC constitution and soccer supplement, teams will receive three points per conference win and one point per conference/divisional tie. Heading into the regular season finale, the Bulldogs were tied atop the league standings with Santa Barbara City College and held a half-game advantage over Moorpark College. Friday's victory for AHC over Ventura, combined with a tie between the Vaqueros and the Raiders, handed Hancock the outright title.

Offensively, Hancock has been led on the season by sophomore Cynthia Ramirez. The Arroyo Grande native is ranked third in the state with 30 goals and is second with 74 points after also tallying 14 assists. The Bulldogs averaged 4.05 goals per game (81 total) while boasting a goals-against average of 0.95 throughout the regular season.

Allan Hancock has automatically qualified for the Southern California Regional Tournament, which is set to begin with a play-in round on November 16th and will end on November 25th. Two teams will advance from the SoCal Regional bracket to the 3C2A State Championship showdown on December 1st and 3rd. Official qualifiers and seeding information will be announced on the 3C2ASports.org website.
