West LA Nearly Sweeps Superlative Awards as All-Conference Teams are Announced

The West Los Angeles College men's basketball team nearly swept all superlative awards on the 2024 Western State Conference (South) list of honorees after clinching a share of a fourth conference title in six seasons. The list of major award winners and all-conference selections were chosen by the WSC South coaches after the conclusion of the regular season. The Wildcats split the title with Citrus College after both programs recorded a 12-2 mark against league foes.

West LA's CJ Hardy led the list of accolades after being tabbed as the Player of the Year. The Gardena native averaged 20.9 points and 5.0 rebounds per game while working towards an impressive 54.5 field goal percentage through the conference slate.

Fellow Wildcat Marland Harris also collected a superlative nod as the Defensive Player of the Year. The 6'9" center from Inglewood racked up 36 blocks and 8.7 rebounds per game during WSC South action.

WLAC head coach Anthony Jones was named as the Co-Coach of the Year, splitting the title with Citrus head coach Brett Lauer. This marks the fourth postseason nod for Jones after also receiving the award in 2022, 2019, and 2018. Lauer was honored for the second consecutive year after leading the Owls to their sixth conference championship in seven seasons.  It is also his fourth nod at the major award after being recognized last season in the south and twice in the east ('19, '18).
