Men's Soccer: Santa Monica Clinches WSC North Title

SANTA MONICA, Calif. - Santa Monica College clinched the 2023 Western State Conference (North) title with two games to spare after making a dominating run to the title. They closed the conference slate with an unbeaten record of 8-0-1 against league foes while winning seven straight matches down the stretch and boasting an overall mark of 15-2-5 at the end of the regular season. This marks the second conference title for the Corsairs in recent history as the program secured the crown in 2018.

A traditional point system is used to determine the conference champion each season. Per the WSC constitution and soccer supplement, teams will receive three points per conference win and one point per conference/divisional tie.

SMC's Jason Moreno currently leads the state with 24 assists on the season, while Philip Hephzibah is ranked fourth after tallying 50 points thus far. As a team, the Corsairs are second amongst all 3C2A programs with 263 total points after registering 74 goals (3.36/game).

Santa Monica has automatically qualified for the Southern California Regional Tournament, which is set to begin on November 18th and end on November 25th. Two teams will advance from the SoCal Regional bracket to the 3C2A State Championship showdown on December 1st and 3rd. Official qualifiers and seeding information will be announced on the 3C2ASports.org website.
