Ventura Sweeps Superlative Awards, All-Conference Honorees Announced

Ventura College women's volleyball swept the Western State Conference (North) superlative awards after posting an 8-2 record against league foes.

Brad Lyans was named as the Coach of the Year after leading the Pirates to a share of the conference title for the third straight year and for the fourth time in the past five seasons. This is the fifth time that Lyans has received the postseason nod after a vote by league coaches. 

Outside hitter Kayla Murdoch was selected as the Player of the Year after a standout sophomore campaign. The Thousand Oaks native closed the conference slate with a .323 hitting percentage after registering 155 kills through nine matches. Murdoch also averaged 5.17 kills per set and recorded 12 blocks.

Autumn Rojelio picked up the Libero of the Year honor with an average of 5.56 digs per set through 10 WSC North contests. The local product from Ventura totaled 189 digs and 12 aces against league foes.
